Directions: When you apply for an Illinois driver’s license, you will be asked questions about your general health and must take a vision, written and driving exam. Vision and written tests are required for the issuance or renewal of all permits.
You are allowed three attempts to pass each of the exams within one year from the date you paid your application fee.

The written exam consists of 35 questions, 15 of which will address traffic sign identification and the remaining 20 will be rules of the road questions.
