Alabama CDL Permit Test - Class B

Directions: This license is required for driving a single vehicle with a GVWR of more than 26,001 pounds, and a trailer not to exceed 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating, or a vehicle designed to transport 24 or more people (including the driver). To receive this license, applicants must pass a 50-question test. To pass, applicants must answer 40 questions correctly. Each question has three or four possible answer choices. Test questions come from the Alabama Commercial Driver License Manual. Questions come from chapters covering: Introduction, Driving Safely, Transporting Cargo Safely, Air Brakes (if applicable), Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection Test, Basic Vehicle Control Skills Test and On-Road Driving.. Endorsements that may be used with a Class B CDL are: Hazardous materials, Tank, Passenger, HazMat and Tank, Air Brakes and School bus.

A stopped bus:
Is not a cause for concern since it is stopped.
Is only a concern if passengers are exiting the bus.
Is a concern whether or not passengers are visible.
If there is a cargo fire in a box trailer:
The trailer doors should be opened.
The trailer doors should not be opened.
A large, heavy blanket should be put over the trailer.
If an unusual noise or feeling occurs in a vehicle while it is being driven, the driver should:
Assume it is not a concern and continue driving.
Hope the vehicle does alright until it is switched to another driver.
Check the situation to determine the proper solution.
When asked to make a lane change during the skills test, you should:
Make the necessary traffic checks first.
Not use your mirrors.
Cut off other vehicles if needed to follow the instructions.
Not make the lane change if you don’t want to.
If the low pressure warning light comes on while you are driving:
Braking will only occur if there is enough air in the tanks.
You can brake 14 times before the air in the system runs out.
You should continue to drive normally and check the brake system when it is convenient.
You should continue driving, but turn the emergency flashers on to warn other motorists.
When asked about the vehicle's oil during the vehicle inspection test, you must be able to do all of the following, except:
Indicate where the dipstick is located.
Show that the oil level is within a safe operating range.
Show that the oil level is above the refill mark.
Show that the oil level is below the refill mark.
When starting from a stop:
A vehicle should shift to the right.
A vehicle should be put into third gear.
A vehicle should not roll back.
