Directions: To earn your license you must pass a knowledge test and a skills test. Questions on the knowledge test cover content in the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Driver’s Manual and New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Motorcycle manual. The knowledge test includes questions on rules of the road, safe driving techniques, road signs and the laws about alcohol and drug use. The written test consists of 20 multiple choice questions, each with four possible answers. A score of at least 14 is required to pass, and at least two of the four questions on road signs must be answered correctly. The road test includes left and right circles and figure-eights on public streets. If the road test is taken on a three-wheeler, the motorcycle license will be restricted to driving three-wheelers.
